Then they were off on a puzzle hunt! I chose a detective theme, so they could solve mysteries like Oona. For the puzzle hunt I cut up a picture of the book cover (see the first photo) and hid the pieces around the yard while they were having their discussion.
Then they went inside to put the puzzle together to find a clue on the back.
Detective boxes. Inside each box was:
#1 cooked spaghetti mixed with a little bit of oil
#2 dry beans
#3 dried apricots
#4 cotton batting
They were able to guess the 1 & 2 pretty well. They had a harder time with 3 & 4.
THEN they made their own little Deacons (Oona's pet bird) out of felt, embroidery floss, batting, and a lobster claw clip.
Afterward we headed over to Subway for some late lunch. Rose decided to be super swanky.
We're going to miss the Miles family so much. They're such great friends. Love them.
