aarrrgggghh....

We rented a house on the beach on the Outer Banks for a week in May.  Sooo excited.  Two required amenities...  ocean front with a hot tub.  I can't wait to watch the sun rise over the ocean.

Rose is gearing up for the trip.  She couldn't wait to test out her bathing suit and "goo-goo goggles". (that's right, Dr. Suess)

words from her mouth

I'm sure she will disagree with this statement at some point but until then I am reveling in her sweet words.

Snoozing with her catepillar, Hathy.
I had to crank my ISO up to 12500 for this shot.  It was so dark in her room that I was guesstimating the focus.  Alas, I got the shot, super grain and all.

baby book

this is perhaps the cutest maternity book i've seen.  such a cute idea.  the baby will surely love this book when she gets old enough to appreciate it.  i would love to do something similar for my prego sisters, if only we lived closer.  click on this link to see it larger.

pom-poms

I made these pom-poms for Rose's room a couple of weeks ago.  I got the ideas from the internet here and there.  I'm excited with how they turned out, I wanted an array of colors and textures.

Of course with any project it was a learning process.  Here are some pictures and tips to help you along so you don't have to make the same blunders I did.

To make the pink and small gray pom-poms I found a tutorial on Once Wed.  It didn't indicate measurements, etc. so I just guesstimated.  I used:  (all measurements are taken by diameter)

-  9 1/2" chinese lanterns for the pink ones
-  5" green floral foam balls for the small gray one and floral wire for the hanger
-  5 yds fashion fabric from Walmart ($5 for 5 yrds) for the pink pom-poms.  Probably half that for the gray one.
-  6" circles for large pom-poms
-  3 3/4" circles for small pom-poms

**be careful that you don't glue the circles too close!**  I probably left an inch spacing between each one.

Unfortunately I could only find 9 1/2" chinese lanterns in our tiny town, so for the small gray one I used one of the green foam balls that you can find in the fake flower section at Walmart.  Next time I'll order them from this website.
The idea for the strips pom-pom came from here.  I cut strips measuring 1 1/2" x 2"  I also just covered the bottom with fabric instead of glueing the strips all the way down.
I got the idea of this one from here.  I used the 9 1/2" chinese lantern.  The book I picked up at a local used book store for $1.  I wanted something with words and music.  The circles measure 3 1/4" in.
I'm posting this late, so please overlook any typos.  Too tired to proof read.  Nighty night.

finishing touches

I'm trying to put the finishing touches on Rosey's room.  Almost there.  I just need to add some art work.  I'm painting a picture of Rosey flying away with an umbrella.  It's always a learning process.  I'm starting over with the one on the right.  I may not be complete it until after the move but I'll post a picture when I'm finished.

Here is Rose making some art of her own.  I would lovey, love, love if she turned out to be artistic but considering she doesn't like to color I'm not holding my breath.  I still provide plenty of opportunities though.

camera bag

I tote my whopper of a camera around with me everywhere so that I don't miss little treasures through out the day.  I've been just throwing it into my bag with everything else...  Cherrios, water bottle, hanitizer (as Rose calls it), etc. but it makes me very nervous!  Tonight I ordered the Kelly Moore B-hobo fashionable extraordinaire camera bag.  SO excited to get it!  I had a really hard time deciding between it and the  Lola bag by Epiphanie but ultimately decided to go with the b-hobo because of the color.  I'll post about it when I receive it next week.

jello

Rose loves helping out in the kitchen and really loves her Rosey-size cooking stuff.  She's does really well and is very careful not to burn herself.
heart-shaped jello molds (with sugar-free jello, of course)

messy bun

Normally Rose prefers her hair down but she found one of my hair sticks and was so excited to wear it.  I think she wore it well.  Here she is working on her ballerina puzzle.

homemade band

In Olivia Forms a Band, Olivia's mom tells her that she sounds like 5 people.  This is Rose's goal too.
