allison pearson
In a world where people often try to sugar coat things or tell you what they think you want to hear, I love hearing from and talking with people that can be completely honest about their feelings and the basic truths of this and that no matter how silly, shameful, or embarrassing they might be. I try to surround myself with people that possess this refreshing quality.
Her books are on my reading list.

scare montage
We don't get cable or any sort of tv channels (which I love) but I really wish there was a way to catch Ellen. I ran across this hilarious scare montage.

wish fulfilled
All my life I couldn't wait to have kids and color with them, so I am loving this moment.
Rose has turned into quite the artist. Not that she has amazing ability at this point but she has developed a love for it, which is all I could ask for. Makes my heart siiiiiiiiiiiing... la la la la... <--- my heart singing

suzuki piano
Rose has been taking Suzuki piano for a few weeks now and loves it. She has a private lesson each week and a group class once a month. I love the added benefit of the group class. She has been to one so far. At the end of the group class she has all of the kids play a piece they have been working on. She had Rose go first and then all of the other kids go. At the end she asked the kids if anyone wanted to play again. Rose's hand shot up in the air without hesitation! At times, she can be a little shy but on stage or doing public speaking, she shines! This makes my heart sing because I am terrified of public speaking!
This was from her private lesson yesterday.

KC temple
While we were driving down the freeway in KC last weekend we saw the temple off in the distance. We were so excited to see it. It was neat to see it under construction. Can't wait to go there when it's done. Rose hasn't seen a temple since she was a baby so she was SO excited. Stopping off and marveling at it's beauty was one of the highlights of our trip.

big cousin
Rose is SO ready to be a big sister. When her cousin, Norah, came home from the hospital she.. could - not - wait ..to hold her. Rose has told me that when our baby comes I won't have to do anything. She's going to feed her (or him), burp her, change her diapers, put her down for a nap, get her up, keep her happy... on and on and on. It's safe to say that the baby will be well loved and taken care of by the big mommy and the little mommy.
She takes her job very seriously.

schools kill creativity
As I'm sitting here editing pictures I'm listening to Ted. I just finished a video by Ken Robinson that really struck a core with me. He summed up part of my reservations for public education. My mission in life is that Rose flourishes in ever aspect of her existance, from spirituality to education to ownership in her sense of self.
Ken Robinson is rather light-hearted, so if you want to laugh and have some food for thought you should watch this. Something to think about.
My favorite quote from the talk is by Pablo Picasso. He said, "all children are born artists, the problem is to remain an artist as we grow up." So true.
